A Comfy Chair and Inspiration

I wrote last week about styling my work area, and how I love my little space. I want to share the final piece of the jigsaw, my gorgeous chair. I had been searching for just the right chair for a while. I had a lot of boxes to tick, oh boy am I fussy. It had to match my sofa; I wanted studs and buttons, and a similar shade of grey to our walls and sofa. Oh and it had to be supportive and comfy to sit on.

A Comfy Chair and Inspiration

I mean this chair was the place my hopes and dreams will stem from, somewhere I would sit and while away the hours tapping on my keyboard, or happily crafting. This is an area I need to feel comfortable, I mean you just can’t pour your heart out with a back ache can you? Well, I cant anyway.

I was using a dining room chair from my kitchen, which is perfectly lovely, or was 5 years ago. In fact after using the dining room chair for my work area for a couple of months, the set of chairs have found their way on to my home hit list, they have got to go, I have fallen out of love with them.

A Comfy Chair and Inspiration

No word of exaggeration every day I was working with a backache, so to help I was warming up and using my lavender heat bag. Now I don’t know if you have ever used one of these, but excessive use causes them to smell. I was warming said bag up every hour, so not only did I have backache, my house stank of an over used slightly burnt lavender bag. Of course I compensated this with candles, but that’s just not the point, it was all getting a bit of a vicious circle.

I was determined not to retreat to the sofa, for me this would have been a downward spiral, in no time at all I would have been sat in my pjs with a huge box of chocolates and a latte watching Love Actually. Sofas are for chilling and that is all I can do on them

A Comfy Chair and InspirationSo you see this gorgeous chair is not just a chair, it has saved me, saved me from backache, my house smelling of overdone lavender bags, and me putting on a stone though eating copious amounts of chocolate on the sofa.

I chose it wisely; yes I couldn’t physically sit on it to test it. But I looked at the shape, it matched aesthetically it is absolutely beautiful. I wanted something to hug my back, unlike my very uncomfortable dining chairs. The AlpenHome Blakiston Solid Wood Parsons Chair from Wayfair is just perfect, it is stylish, comfortable and even arrived smelling of fresh lavender. I have never had furniture that smells of fresh lavender before. It is not overpowering, just very subtle and fresh smelling, which has certainly erased the memory of burnt lavender from my mind.

A Comfy Chair and Inspiration

The problem I have now is that my space is so comfy, I just want to sit there all the time, some days I find myself just daydreaming staring out of the window at the view, or like this week online shopping, and buying beautiful planners to organise myself, or planning exciting family holidays. And whilst I am planning and plotting our life, I have the most gorgeous and comfortable place to do it.

Gosh Sarah, and look at that amazing view you have to look out on! I love this chair. I am completely in agreement with you over those horrible lavender wheat bags. I have one too and spend a lot of time shoving it back in the microwave. Once they burn, the smell is awful!

Suzanne it is the most beautiful view I am so lucky, and I love my new chair I am so looking forward to enjoying the summer views from my desk. And yes I like to always have a wheat bag but they don’t smell nice for long do they? x

I am sorry Sarah, but this post did make me chuckle. I loved the images of the burnt overused lavender bag and you re-enacting Bridget Jones in your PJs on the sofa! That chair is gorgeous. I love the colour and style. It finishes your workspace off perfectly. I think if I had a chair and a desk space like that, I too would spend many hours sitting their daydreaming or internet shopping. Sounds fabulous. Hugs Lucy xxxx

LOVE IT! I absolutely love it 🙂 My work chair isn’t nearly so glamorous — I have a kneeling chair by STOKKE and whilst it IS comfy and prevents me from getting a sore back, it doesn’t look that fab. Yours on the other hand… 🙂

Ok officially in love with that chair AND your work space. I really need to adopt your approach – our home office conversion is pretty much finished but still I find myself sitting downstairs on the sofa, TV on and NOT being productive. I think it’s because I spend all my week days in an office for my day job so to come home and then retreat upstairs feels a bit antisocial but perhaps every Sunday morning to get on with my blog posts for the week might be a good compromise. Totally with you on the lavender smell, it’s so overpowering and can I just say, that view out of your window is stunning X #HomeEtc

Ah thank you, I think the fact that I have made my desk fit my lounge really helps. But the fact that I love the space means I enjoy working there, I think the fact I have made me pretty makes me want to use the space x

It’s beautiful, Sarah. The colour is gorgeous. Your whole office is looking so nice. I tidied mine up before Christmas but now it’s a massive mess, again. I need to kick Paul out of it for good and pretty it up!

Thanks Rachel, ha ha you do make it girly and pretty and you will covet the space, we used to have a purpose build office which we knocked down to make our hall bigger, but as we shared it, it was a tip. Because it is girly and pretty they all stay away ha ha.
