The Not So Secret Santa and Blogging Friends

22nd December 2015 by SarahJChristie 8 Comments

I have talked about blogging friendships before, its odd how you strike up friendships with people you have never met or indeed heard of before entering the wonderful world of blogging. It could be anything that initially promotes friendship from reading a post that you can relate too, to reading a post that touches you and makes you feel that you have got to know a tiny part of the blogger behind the post.

The Not So Secret Santa and Blogging Friends

I suppose it is like striking any friendship, there are all sorts of reasons you feel you connect with people. Children, work, school, college, my blogging friends all initially came from a love of blogging, reading each others posts and getting to know the blogger behind the writing.

But then something happened; we turned into real friends and when we meet up generally with the intention of talking all things blogging, learning off each other. We talk about anything but! Chat about our lives, the kids, and get to know each other that little bit more. I can honestly say I am glad this amazing bunch of ladies came into my life.

The Not So Secret Santa and Blogging Friends

So this year when I got the lovely Karen for our annual secret Santa I felt I knew exactly what to get her, being a teacher I knew she would need to chill by the time she finished for Christmas. It’s hard to keep going at Christmas, as no matter how old your students they are hypo this time of year.

I chose a relaxing candle, hot chocolate with marshmallows and some Baileys truffles, in the hope that Karen gets half an hour to chill and relax after a hectic build up to Christmas.

Karen’s gift to me was a variety of cocktails and a delicious bar of champagne chocolate.  I love a cocktail, and decided it only fair to test out the pina colada for research purposes for this post, and it was delicious. Thank you so much Karen I am looking forward to enjoying the rest of the cocktails and as for the chocolate, well that is history.

Ah how lovely that you do a secret santa for one another! Isn’t blogging great for making friends? It’s weird how you actually no more about people in the online world than your friends in real life. I think that’s why it’s so easy to talk when you do meet up – there’s no small talk needed. Hope to see you sometime in 2016 and to chat a bit more. A very brief ‘hello’ at the MADS wasn’t exactly time to get to know one another! Have a wonderful Christmas. x x
