This week I am sharing Joe and I taking selfies. This is only a little thing, a tiny moment. But its moments like this I want to remember forever. I am learning from experience that before you know it they are mini adults. To cool to give you hugs, and showing any sign of affection is seen as weakness.
Joe is still at that age where he is affectionate, loves cuddles and will just out of the blue give me a kiss and tell me loves me. And every-time it happens it melts my heart. I know these moments wont last forever. He will go on a teen break in a few years.
This photo was taken last week; I was lying on the floor taking photos of the fireplace (like you do) when Joe came to lay next to me and snuggled up. At first I carried on, moved over a bit as I was trying to get the light and Joe was blocking it. Then I though forget the light it can wait, and we spent a while taking silly selfies and setting the timer to take photos.
It only went on for about 20 minutes but it was a precious 20 minutes and it’s the times like these as a parent you never want to forget. No frills, expensive holidays or days out, which yes are all amazing. But just family time at home on a rainy afternoon, a real moment, is sometimes just as special.
