For my captured moment this week I am using this lovely memory. It is a little bright but as soon as I saw it I smiled. It is finding moments like this that makes me so happy I have always bugged my family with a camera. This was a moment or day I might have forgotten or at least not have remembered so vividly had I not taken photos.
It was taken on my birthday in 2005, 13 days before Joe was born and Jack and I decided to have a mother and son day out. Our last day out before the new baby arrived. I was so conscious to involve Jack in the whole process of becoming a family of 4, to make sure he understood this was a great thing that was happening to our family, and he was very excited.
I don’t know if I have ever shared this before but I had to find out the sex of the baby as my scan because Jack was so adamant he did not want a sister. He even suggested that if we did have a girl we could swap it with another mum and dad at the hospital. This child would have to be prepared if a sister was on the way. Of course he would have had to adapt, but his suggestions of swapping the new baby or just dressing it in boys clothes so no one knew it was girl worried me a tad ha ha.
Any way we had a beautiful baby boy, Jack was thrilled with his baby brother, and we became a family of 4. But I will always look back on this day and smile, my little boy looking forward to meeting his new baby but happy to have his mummy to himself for the day.
