Easy Midweek Meals For Busy Families

It’s so hard isn’t it? Holding down a job, housework, homework, football, shopping and cooking. Fitting it all in requires organisation and skill. Some days, a wing and prayer is the only way for us, there are days when we all arrive home at 6pm, and then we need to cook. My problem is I am an automatic shopper, I shop online and tend to do it in a trance, and as a result I rarely introduce new midweek meals into the weekly plan. This is something I so need to work on.

Last week I got the nudge I needed and the chance to try Old El Paso™ Stand ‘N’ Stuff Soft Flour Tortillas. I decided to try them on an evening I had less time to really put them to the test. I know I am a glutton for punishment, it could have all gone horribly wrong. But I pleased to say they were a roaring success.
Uniquely, shaped like a bowl, Old El Paso™ Stand ‘N’ Stuff Soft Flour Tortillas have a flat bottom, making them easy to fill, hold and eat for all the family and at £3.79 for the Kits, and £1.89 for the Tortillas, they really are a great value meal option.

On first inspection I thought the tortillas were a quite novel and knew the boys would love them, Joe loves wraps but get in a right mess, for him the Stand ‘N’ Stuff Tortillas were perfect, easy to hold and the perfect size.

The meal was so simple to prepare, with a large bowl of salad, grated cheese, cooked mushrooms in garlic and using the Smoky BBQ mix cooked with lean minced beef, I would say it took me 20 minutes tops to prepare. Giving me a little time to help Joe with his homework.

As a family we love a meal that we can self-serve, it is so much more sociable. The boys loved the Stand ‘N’ Stuff Tacos and really enjoyed stuffing them with fillings themselves. Joe getting as much as he could in like it was his last ever meal, and Jack who made it more of an art form. They both devoured their meals; in fact Jack asked if we could buy them again.

So for us they were a real success, a perfect midweek meal that is tasty, quick and easy to prepare but also the perfect opportunity to all spend quality time together and chat about our days.

This has really inspired me to shake up weekday mealtimes. I have been lacking inspiration for quite some time; this has really given me the nudge I need to look for more interesting, tasty midweek meal options and Old El Paso™ Stand ‘N’ Stuff Soft Flour Tortillas have most definitely made it onto my midweek meal plan.

They’re delicious, aren’t they? Were a real success here too. We also need to come up with some new ideas for midweek meals and this is definitely one we will be trying more often!

I totally get the whole ‘doing the online shopping in a trance’ and I always seem to buy the same things for tea. I love the Old El Paso range and will definitely look out for them when I next do the shop. And if they take 20 minutes to do that is always a winner in our house during the week x
