My Captured Moment, Miami Airport

3rd September 2015 by SarahJChristie 20 Comments

I love this photo, I know the boys are not looking but that is because they were amazed by this piece of art, and were more interested at looking back at it. This photo was taken at Miami airport after a traumatic 4 hours battling through the airport.

miami airportWe had been traveling for 16 hours when we had landed at Miami so were feeling very excited but a little jaded. Battling through customs at peak time had been so tiring and then we turned a corner and hit this amazing mural.

It instantly bucked us all up; it was so beautiful, vibrant and bright. We immediately felt in the Miami mood. Small moments like this are often as great as the big moments.

We did quite a lot of traveling on our last trip, I was a little worried about the boys getting  on, at one stage, 3 planes in one day, but do you know what? They saw it all as an adventure. They loved the whole experience, including the traveling , it was all so much fun and moments we will look back at fondly forever.

What a great piece of art and fab that it was there at the right time! It certainly does reflect the vibe in Miami. Three planes in one day is an adventure x

It’s all about the experience isn’t it. We had to stay in Abu Dhabi airport for 6 whole hours.. was only supposed to be for 4 hours. We were coming from Thailand. It was such a long flight for them. In total with their times and our times… if I remember, it took 30+ hours. It was horrible. With the driving to both airports and home too! 🙁
    That photo is lovely xxx

It can feel so drawn out cant it, at Miami we used the Business lounge and that was worth every penny. Jack had a shower, Joe had a nap so we felt chilled x

I’ve flown into Miami and had a similar experience – why on earth does arrivals take so long!? I didn’t see this fantastic mural though – it must be new. I can imagine it would brighten things up a lot. The contrast between your boys’ faces and the artwork behind them says it all! Shattered! #mycapturedmoment

I know it was so slow the first time we flew in. I looked new as it was so bright and fresh, it seemed like they were renovating the airport. And yes bless them they were so tired but still posed for a photo in all the excitement x

It was so cheery to come across it, the thing is with traveling at the time it can be a pain but it is nearly always worth it isn’t it x

What an amazing mural, and I bet it did cheer you up. We’ve been doing the two/three flights thing with the kids since they were tiny as my sister has lived in the States for years and from Edinburgh it was three flights and a two hour car journey! Even from Boston it’s two flights and a two hour drive! I have always been amazed at how well the kids have coped with it all, often far better than us adults 🙂 Customs is never fun!

No customs isn’t is it? But like you say Sara, kids adapt to all sorts of situations so well, and when packaged as an adventure its even better x

What an amazing wall, I bet it did pick you up! I would have had to get a picture too. The boys may not be looking directly at the camera but I think it works. Thanks so much for linking to #MyCapturedMoment xxx
