This week has been exciting, manic, upsetting and scary for lots of different reasons. Sometimes you bob along in you own little bubble and something happens to someone around you that makes you realise you just can’t rely on certain things in life.
This week I am feeling thankful for many aspects of my life when others around me have received bad news or a shock. It has made me feel a little guilty about sharing good news, but also made me feel incredible lucky in many ways, so here is my round up of the week.
Fun at Home
Joe didn’t go back to School until Thursday this week, I am lucky that being part-time I was at home with him on Wednesday, we had a lovely chill morning. I caught up with some blogging after being away and he sat by me watching CBBC.
Out & About
Once we were ready and organised we went shopping for holiday essentials. Whilst out we stumbled upon an American Diner which reminded us of our favourite Johnny Rockets on board Royal Caribbean Ships.
We just had to go in for lunch and had a lovely lunch chatting about all the things we were excited about this year. Eds Diner also had the old style tabletop jukeboxes, so we got some change and Joe had such a great time choosing Elvis tracks. It was so lovely as every time a song came on that he chose his little face beamed.
Time for Me
I haven’t had any time for me at all this week, in fact as I write I haven’t even had time for housework yet, which I plan to do today, so I am mega behind. But I have had something lovely happen to me. On Wednesday night I got a phone call from the lovely Karen at Mini Travellers to tell me I had been announced as a finalist for the Tots 100 Mad Awards.
Arghhh I never expected that, I wrote a couple of weeks ago about how I feel so lucky for the love and luck that has come way in blogging, and this is another lovely thing to be so thankful for. I read last week there had been over 154,000 nominations so it never entered my head there was ever a chance. So if you voted for me thank you so so much mwah xx
My Happiest Moment
This is a weird one because an awful experience turned into my happiest moment, yesterday I had just settled down to write a post before catching up on housework when I got a phone-call from school to say Joe had fallen on climbing frame at school and could I come to collect him. Now Joe is always bumping himself so I thought it odd that they had asked me to collect him.
They sounded calm enough so I didn’t panic just grabbed my bag and set of to school to collect him, I knew something want right when I saw the head teachers face. Then I saw Joe and omg his head was completely swollen on one side, his eye swollen and closed and going black rapidly, he looked disfigured, it was so bad it make me feel sick.
So off we trotted to the hospital, poor Joe holding an ice pack on his eye. He had fallen and landed on a piece of wood so his eye area had taken the impact. After several long hours at the hospital, an X-ray of his skull and lot of tests to his eye which they had to hold open to test ( I nearly fainted) we were told the wonderful news that the hospital were happy that his eye and skull were not damaged.
My poor boy was so so brave, we are so lucky his eye is ok; I could see the concern and the relief of the doctor who was amazing with him. It’s awful that these freak things happen in life but I am so thankful the damage is not lasting. A lot of the swelling has now gone down and he is left with a very black, very swollen closed eye, but at least this will repair. So my happiest moment is knowing Joe’s eye sight will be ok, trust me we are very lucky.
We were meant to be visiting the Nottingham Belfry Q Hotel this week, but as always the lovely Jemma and Amy at Q were so lovely and supportive and sorted it all out for us, thank you lovely ladies.
Next Week I Would Like To
I have an exciting week next week, I am waiting for some news on a very exciting blog development eeek so fingers crossed there, and I have a very exciting travel event next week with the lovely people form Trips100. I am so excited about my first ever travel event.
My Work Of The Week
I know I had thankful last week, but I have to use it again because this week I have so many things to be thankful for.
