Wow, where do I start? We left the amazing Telford Q Hotel, Golf and Spa Hotel feeling very spoilt we’d had the most incredible time. You never know what to expect visiting a hotel for the first time do you? Well, we needn’t have felt any apprehension at all.
The Stratford Q Hotel is just stunning, firstly it is in the best location, being only a minute or two walk from Stratford Town Centre. We love Stratford-Upon-Avon; in fact I would say it is one of my favourite places in the UK. So to find a beautiful hotel that is so close to town is amazing.
Annie the hotel general manager and her wonderful team gave us such a warm welcome, we were greeted with prosecco on ice, some beautiful gifts the chef brought us the most delicious snacks. Annie had also arranged for us to visit all the Shakespeare Trust Properties, which we were super excited about. I can’t wait to share them very soon.
Our rooms were incredible, decorated in my favourite shades of blue and green. It gave it such a cool and modern yet relaxing atmosphere. They were the sort of rooms you wanted to snuggle up in and not leave. And had we not been in one of our favourite places and had so many exciting things to do, we may well have done that.
The Stratford is a large hotel with a boutique feel, its entrance is grand and boasts a lovely front lawn with a beautiful seated area for sipping cocktails. In fact I need to revisit in the height of summer to do just this.
The reception is small but welcoming and very beautiful; it has such a personal feel which draws you though to the most beautiful bar. The bar is so cool and modern very relaxed. And when we visited the bar for pre dinner drinks we felt so at ease, the boys loved the cool, trendy decor.
We booked dinner in the restaurant as we had heard such great things about it and trust me it did not disappoint, the service was exceptional and Harriet who served us was just lovely and so patient with the boys who couldn’t make a decision. We sat for hours chatting and laughing, thoroughly enjoying the laid back atmosphere of the restaurant before retiring to our beautiful room.
And I can not write about The Stratford without mentioning the chef, who we met briefly but I never got his name. Chefs are unsung heroes aren’t they? And the chef at The Stratford was wonderful he made sure our stay was amazing from our lovely snacks on arrival, our stunning meal and the beautiful picnic he made us up the next day to take to our trip to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage.
Jack adored the crème brûlée’, and is now requesting I make it at home. I am a little apprehensive about this, as I am never going to recreate the delicious pudding that was in our picnic that day.
So the big question, is The Stratford great for families? And my answer to that is definitely yes. The Stratford is not a resort like some of the other hotels we have visited. Yet its style and class is breathtaking, we really loved visiting, it is great for families that love to explore.
The location is perfect which is a huge thing when traveling with a family. I loved the fact that we were in the town in minutes.
There is so much to do in and around Stratford Upon Avon. The incredible Shakespeare Trust properties, the butterfly farm, boats and picnics on the banks of the very beautiful River Avon, and many other museums, bars and restaurants. It is a place I could never ever get bored of visiting.
The rooms, service, and team are so helpful and friendly they made us feel so welcome. And although the hotel is so very plush, modern and styled the boys felt completely at ease.
To Annie and the lovely team at The Stratford, we loved visiting and had such a wonderful time. Thank you all so much for making our stay so so special.
