This week a very exciting parcel arrived, a food parcel filled with goodies from Mauritius. It was sent by the lovely people from Discover Mauritius, and was packed with all sort of exciting goodies.
Firstly a cookbook full of recipes from Mauritius, I have had a read and there are many I would like to try, Vanilla Tea Bags,Rice Wine,Beer,Massale’ spice blend, DodoChilli dipping sauce, Pink Peppercorns.
Last night Chris made a Mauritian inspired curry, now I haven’t any photo’s as I was working late and he had it all ready for me when I got home. However I wanted to share it as he made it using the Massale’ spices, Doddo chilli sauce and the pink peppercorns. He also added tomatoes, onions, Chicken, yoghurt, salt and pepper.
It was delicious, had a completely different taste to a traditional curry, it was more fruity and fragrant, we thoroughly enjoyed it, if I am honest I preferred the fruitiness of the flavour, to the spiciness of a traditional curry. Although it did still have kick to it.
We washed our lovely meal down with a glass of wine, and a beer (for research purposed only hmm) both tasted great, the beer was smooth and strong in taste, but defiantly moorish.
If you click on the link above it takes you to the Discover Mauritius page, it is somewhere we would love to visit, sun, beeches, blue sky’s, clear sea’s and cocktails a little piece of heaven. Up until the 27th of April they are running a competition to win a week half board on this stunning island. I know mega prize! Good luck everyone have a cocktail on the beach for me.
