Last week Joe and I got the opportunity to attend the Gadget Show Live, and although we had been before we were so excited. You see, we are a bit gadget mad in the Christie household. So to spend a day looking at new gadgets was a very exciting prospect. Plus we had VIP ticket, now that is every little boys dream isn’t it?
We arrived just in time for the live show, we were lucky enough to get an early slot to enable us to spend the afternoon browsing and then give us time for the journey home, without getting home too late, ready for school the next day.
When seated in the super theatre we were so thrilled to see our seats were front row, middle, so we had the perfect view of the stage. Now, no matter where you sit the show is incredible, lots of new gadgets to see tested and put through their paces. We particularly loved seeing the DeLorean, which had been lovingly recreated to an exact replica as the original Back To The Future DeLorean by Jason Bradbury. The show was fast paced and exciting, and seemed to go so quickly, and left us wishing it would go on longer.
After the show we were luck enough to get the opportunity to get a back stage tour and see behind the scenes of the show. Now I love to see behind the scenes, as to me this is where all the magic happens, the teamwork on a production like this is just incredible. Joe was mesmerised by all the gadgets and so excited to get near to the DeLorian and have a good look inside the car.
After this it just got better as we met the cast of the show, I must say that Jason, Ortis, Amy and Jon were just so friendly and generous with their time, and all spent the time to have a chat and a photo, even though they were on a quick turnaround to the next show. Joe was so star struck but managed to pluck up the courage to ask each of them for a selfie bless. He felt so pleased with himself afterwards; they made him feel so special.
After the show we took the opportunity to retreat to the lounge for a quick drink and snack then hit the floor to look at all the exhibits. To be honest we could have spent so much longer there, there was so much to see and try out.
So what did we love, well firstly all the interactive stands. You could ride a segway, which I was dying too but Joe wasn’t keen, we spent some time looking at PCs and gaming machines throughout the years. Joe was blown away by the original Apple Mac, which I remember well. I don’t think he could understand why it had a black with green text and symbols, and asked where all the images were ha ha.
We also spent some time looking at instruments, Joe loved playing the electric drums and I must say if we ever get a drum set this will be the one. No sound, how amazing, just pop headphones on and you are in drummer heaven without torturing those around you.
We did look at a high-speed bow and arrow, the darts were plungers so meant to be safe but they shot out at such speed. Now Joe nearly conned me into buying one of these, I mean what damage can you do with a suction dart hey? But then he nearly shot the demonstrator, and I quickly realised Joe was not to be trusted with this at all.
So what were our favourite finds of the day,
GoPro, we had a good chat with the lovely people on the Go Pro stand and have realised we need one of these in our lives for Disney, the Go Pro camera is perfect for recording Disney rides and also has a water proof case for the water parks, how great is that.
InstaLens, this is incredible a magnetic lens that magnetically attaches to your phone and enhances the lens, there are lots of options, we have the macro and wide-angle but definitely need the zoom lens, it is so quick and easy to use, and so effective.
The Opus Camper, this is the coolest folding camper van, yet ultimate luxury. It really was amazing.
Thank you so much to Curry’s for our tickets and the chance to have a thoroughly amazing day, and we can’t wait to visit again next year.
