I can’t believe how quickly this week has flown by. I feel like we have got lots done, but oh my, it has gone quickly. School holidays always do for me, trying to catch up on all those jobs you put off. I currently have 3 bin bags full of toys in the boot of my car waiting to be taken to the charity shop. It amazes me every time I clear out the toy cupboard how many toys they have and how many they just don’t play with.
Of course now Jack is an age where he doesn’t have toys the sheer volume is thankfully reducing. Sad in a way, he is growing up but wonderful to be getting some space back in the house. Seriously kids just don’t need that many toys do they?
Yesterday we dropped Jack off to join his school trip to Austria, it was lovely to see him so excited, I felt sad after he had left but I know he is going to have an amazing time. He is so adventurous and loves a challenge.
One thing that has tickled me is that I get him some travel-sick pills for the ferry crossing, to which he told me he wouldn’t need them, as he is fine on ships. When questioned further it transpired he thought the ferry was going to be like being on a cruise ha ha. Now I know ferries are nice, but I have never been on one with a flo-rider or theatre.
Here’s the rest of our week.
Out and About
Joe and I have been all over shopping and planning his new bedroom. Chris is decorating his room this week, and Joe is so excited. He has really surprised me as we gave him free rein to choose whatever style and colour he wanted and chose a very simple grey theme with grey stars and strips bedding and one accent red cushion.
I am always going on about how Jack is growing up but this week I looked and Joe the baby of the house and thought, wow when did you get so grown up, maybe having an older brother is influencing him and his taste.
I also took Joe to Ikea to get all the finishing touches, shelves, and accessories. We had such a lovely day and he really enjoyed shopping just for him.
Fun at Home
Well, I am not sure about fun, I loath decorating. All that mess preparation and disruption. I don’t mind restoring a piece of furniture, but painting and decorating urghhh. Fortunately Chris does all the decorating and I shop and plan for it.
So this week Joe and I have been sorting through toys, clothes and having a good clear out. It has been lovely to chat as we worked, and Joe was a great help until the point that he got bored and then left me to finish the job and tidy up alone.
Time for Me
Amongst the chaos I have found a little time to blog, and get up to date with emails. And as Jack was still at school this week, when Joe was at pony club I got the chance to meet up with my lovely friend Lisa and have a chat and coffee, oh a book out train tickets to BritMums Live. I am so excited about that little weekend. I also got time to meet up with another friend the lovely Fran, I hadn’t seen her for ages and it made me realize we really should find time for friends.
My Happiest Moment
This would be spending a little time with my lovely friend Louise and 2 of her 3 children Joe and Suzy. Suzy is my god-daughter and I just adore her and love spending time with her. It is wonderful to see her growing into a toddler. And Joe and Joe get on like a house on fire so spent a couple of happy hours playing together.
So thats our week, a very productive week all round, have a lovely Easter weekend and lets hope for a little sun.
