What an incredible week this last week has been, it all feels like a bit of a fairy tale. Although we haven’t done loads it will be a week I never forget. So here goes, my incredibly fantastic week.
Out and About
Not sure if this counts but as I haven’t had much opportunity to get out in the countryside this week for one reason or another. And because I had a wonderful time I am choosing last night. I visited the Fence Gate, a lovely village bistro with my lovely friends Ruth, Suzie and Cheryl. We had a lovely evening, dinner and wine, ooh and a little champagne to celebrate. We laughed so much, nights like that are priceless aren’t they. I am lucky to have such wonderful friends around me.
Fun at Home
Last Saturday night out good friends Ruth and Darren visited us with their son Finley who is Joe’s best friend. We had a lovely evening and again lots of food, wine and laughing involved. It’s great that our children are best friends, in fact we met through the boys, and they become such close friends. And I love how our social life has evolved into night in with great friends to include our families.
Time For Me
Well this has been very thin on the ground this week let me tell you. But I did have a very important conference call on Thursday morning, in fact it all feels like an amazing dream. I am very excited, in fact excited doesn’t even cut it, I am beside myself with excitement, I need to keep pinching myself to check I am not dreaming, as this year I will be working with Walt Disney World Arggghhhhhhhh. I can’t believe the opportunities my blog has opened this year; working with Q Hotels and Now Disney, I feel so so lucky. So I am excitedly jotting down notes and will be starting a Pinterest board to track our very exciting Disney Journey.
I have three this week, firstly last Friday Joe got the merit at school, at Joe’s School you receive a top-secret message to invite you to assembly so Chris and I went along. Joe’s teacher said such lovely things about Joe and his work it brought tears to my eyes. We are so proud of him, and I think he is a little proud of himself too, bless him. I love that he is so enjoying his education, he has a new teacher and she truly wonderful. Its as if she has sparked a flame in him, he is so excited about learning since she took over, he was before but this wonderful teacher has taken his enthusiasm to another level. She is a true magic weaver. I know Joe is not looking on this photo, but its the joy in his face I so love.
We also visited Jacks school for his options choices evening. I can’t believe he is starting his GCSE’s next year, what happened to my little boy. He is taller than me now, I know this isn’t hard but still, my child is taller than me ‘sobs’. Anyway, yes we have discussed his options at home, but we have tried to give him a little leeway and trust his judgment too. We were so proud of him when we spoke to his Spanish teacher as he has chosen to sit his Spanish GCSE in a year and pick Calculations as an added GCSE, and she was more that happy with him choosing this and confirmed he was more than capable. We are so proud he has not taken an easy route, but the one that will give him more options in life.
And my last one is that Jack has had his diabetes review and his HbA1C is 7.8. This means he does have a little work to do to get it lower, as the nearer to 7 it is the better. However said that for a teen it is a great score, yet Jacks team are so amazing the constantly strive for improvement and that is what I love about them, their attitude is yes that’s great and they give him praise where its due, but encouragement to improve. They are never ever complacent and that is so important when planning a long-term healthy life with a diabetic teenager. We are so proud of how Jack has dealt with this change to his life, he is so inspirational, it is a big thing, yet he just plays it down as a part of him he has to deal with. He really is a diabetes warrior.
Next week I would like too…
I will start with tonight, we have out lovely friends Kelly, Steve, Janet and Scarlet visiting tonight. Kelly and I have been friends since out teens. We don’t get together as often as we should but I love spending time with them, it’s always such good fun. And Joe and Scarlet get on like a house on fire, bless them.
I plan to make a welcome video for my Facebook page with they help of the boys, I am a little apprehensive, but also a little excited about this. I am also looking forward to a bit of chill time with the boys and some long walks with Toby seeing at it is half term. And looking forward to starting my Disney Journey, with my Pinterest board and planning my posts. I have loved the planning process of our Holiday and can’t wait to share it.
