A lovely Family Winters Walk

We have had the most wonderful Christmas, but the weather has not been too kind has it? Rain, rain, and more rain. It’s been the sort of weather than you just don’t want to take long walks in. Poor Toby has got soaked every day on his walk, and hasn’t had a really long, long walk due to the rain.

If I had of dared mention a long walk to the boys over the last two weeks I think they would have packed up and left home. They were fine at Center Parcs where there was an activity or award at the end of a walk in the rain but at home, no chance.

So it thrilled when I awoke to glorious sunshine on Sunday, perfect walking weather. We decided to take a long walk to a local village, stop in at the lovely Sparrowhawk. The Sparrowhawk is a lovely pub, restaurant that serves great food, has roaring open fires and a separate area where walkers can take well-behaved dogs to enjoy a drink.

Toby had never visited a pub before and ended up starting a bit of a chorus of little cries with the other dogs in the pub, he just could understand why he had to sit and be good, rather than go and play with the other dogs.

It’s funny you can tell when your children are growing up, Joe found this so funny, but Jack was so embarrassed by him, I think Toby was ruining his street kred a little ha ha.

We live in such a beautiful scenic area, very hilly offering different perspectives at different times of the day.

Here are some of the photo’s we took along the way. It’s just lovely getting out for a long family walk and stunning walking home at sunset, its day like this when you look around you that you realise just how lucky you are.

That’s a really really lovely weather! That sky is just stunning and really a nice day to go out. We are having so much rain and wind too and on our school run. Its so hard to walk and yet we don’t have a choice if we want to go to school. Today the weather is nicer. Windy but at least not soggy. #countrykids

Lovely photos. We love rambling and messing about outside in our family. But I have to admit that when it’s just a teensy bit too cold I’d rather be hopped up in the house. I often post about our outdoor adventures here in Northern Ireland. Loved reading your blog.

Sometimes you need a little bribe to persuade kids to go for a walk or an activity other than just walking, the pub sounds perfect, mine would all walk for their lunch too! Lovely photos. Thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.
