A couple of weeks ago we visited the wonderful award-winning Mr. Coopers restaurant. It is part of the beautiful Midland Hotel. As part of our stay there we decided to try out the pre theatre menu at Mr. Coopers. Mr. Cooper’s House & Garden is a tribute to Mr. Cooper himself, whose house and famous gardens sat on the site back in 1819.
Thomas Cooper was a popular figure in Manchester. The family were coach-makers by trade and their garden situated on the site of The Midland was famous for its strawberries, gooseberries, apples and flowers. The Coopers would welcome the public in to visit the gardens and picnic there, at intervals throughout the year.
The menu had a great variety of choice and even has something to suit Mr. Fussy Jack. The service was fantastic the staff were so friendly and attentive; our waitress was fantastic with Jack and helped him to work out his portion sizes. She was quite interested and asked him lots of questions about diabetes, making him feel at ease.
This always makes a big difference when we are eating out. Jack has to work out his carbohydrates to match his portion sizes so he gan get his insulin levels correct. All it takes is a couple of minutes to do. The waitress actually went into the kitchen and took a photo of the portion Jack would get to help him. Little things like this give him so much more confidence and make a big difference, so thank you.
I chose the raw beef started and duck main. But to be honest there was loads on the menu I would have liked to try. However both dishes were delicious. in fact the beef was just amazing, one of those dishes you could eat again and again.
We loved Mr. Coopers, the service, staff, food, setting were all just great. Definitely somewhere I would like to visit again. An would 100% recommend this a must visit restaurant in Manchester, if you want to eat in a beautiful location with great service, and fantastic food, Mr. Coopers is perfect.
