Making An Antipasto Hamper With Ciao Gusto

We all have THAT relative don’t we? The one you never know what to buy for Christmas, the one that has everything.

I know over the years I have struggled trying to send something unique, a gift to put a smile on somebody’s face. Because there is nothing worse than a thoughtless present. Quite honestly there is no point when someone has gifted something for the sake of it. I like to listen for clues, gather information that will enable me to get the perfect gift.

I have been making home made gift hampers for quite a few years now. They make great gifts and can be personalised to suit someone’s taste. I remember one year I made a Royal Albert afternoon tea hamper for my Nan. And beer hampers always go down well with both of our Dads. But the key is finding something a bit different, for example that beer that is linked to a favourite place.

When Ocado and Ciao Gusto challenged me to make a hamper out of everyday items I knew this was a simple task

I was confident I could make a great gift. I decided to go for an antipasto hamper, as I know this is something Chris loves. And something we always enjoy over the Christmas period. But to be honest I can think of 4 relatives that would love this as a gift.

And what better thing to gift than a mini meal in a box, something you can set out, and enjoy in front of  a movie and a roaring fire. As I know for a fact that my Father in Law has a box of gifts in his office, still in the packaging. It is full of DVD box sets, wallets, and books. Because honestly he does not need anything, however put a little thought into a hamper full of delicious beers, wines and antipasto and he will love you forever.

And if you are struggling for ideas here are my top tips for building the perfect hamper.

Look out for bargain baskets throughout the year, you can pick them up cheaply and store them. If not you can pick them up last-minute at Ikea

Fill the basket with Florist Cellophane to create a base, it looks great. I always save this from any gifts I receive and it never fails to come inhandy.

Finnish of the hamper with a bow or even make you own. I made mine by folding rectangle of wrapping paper and fastening a bell for a rustic festive look.

Also keep you eye out for useful hamper additions such as slate boards for cheese, vintage teacups, mulled wine glasses etc.

Everybody has a hamper style, do they like to pamper, and have they got a sweet tooth, savoury tooth, love baking, sewing, crafting,  love gin, or crft beers? No matter who you are buying for you can easily create a hamper they will love.

And lastly if you are buying food check the sell by dates.

Happy hamper building, because who doesn’t like to receive a pretty box full of goodies.
