Organic Recipes in a Box From Riverford

I first discovered Riverford Organic Recipe Boxes back in September

It was during a girl’s weekend at Greenbank Barns. Ordering fresh ingredients all ready to be made into a delicious meal was something that had never occurred to me. What a genius idea. We stay in holiday lodges and cottages lots, and when you are planning meals, you have to be so organised, and remember every single ingredient.

I have lost count of how many times I have forgotten a vital ingredient for a recipe and had to send Chris out in search of a supermarket. He then gets a bit grrrr about it all, and we are not quite as relaxed as we had planned.

If you want to see me create my projects, follow me on Tik Tok and Instagram.

The fantastic thing about the recipe box is that the menu is always different. The box Karen and Julia and I sampled was totally different to the box that arrived on my doorstep last week. When you view the website you have several options from vegetarian to quick meals or meals that take that little more time. You can also view 3 weeks at a time, and every week has an alternative menu. So no repetitiveness, and as the boxes come with the option to cater for 2 or 3 people you can easily multiply them up if you are entertaining.

The boxes arrive well packed and insulated to keep the food fresh and cool. The packaging is also recyclable. Riverford even collect ice packs to re-use them. The recipes are clearly separated and divided and the meat is stored in a sealed bag.

Following the recipe card is simple

The recipes are clear and easy to follow. And with all the ingredients weighed out and ready, all you have to do is cook. Perfect when you are in a holiday lodge and don’t fully have your bearings in the kitchen. Or when you are entertaining guests and don’t have time to think, but want something a little different. You know, when you are pouring wine, catching up on gossip, making sure the kids are entertained.

On occasions like this it is far simpler to read a recipe and have it all laid out in front of you. Did I ever mention I once used curry powder in a ginger bread house, rather than ginger! I know, total parenting fail and that is exactly why I love Riverford, it proofs me from epic failure. Don’t get me wrong? I can cook. But what I sometimes lack is patience and concentration; if I have an empty house I can be creative in the kitchen. But with a houseful, or when we are travelling, I want it there ready to go.

Riverford is also a great source of inspiration

Once you have cooked your meal you can simply save the recipe card to re-create you favourite dishes. I will most certainly be recreating 4 of the 6 dishes I have sampled recently. All the meals were delicious, but 4 of those will be added to the Christie menu bank. The fact that I can learn new recipes as I cook, rather that spending the time scouring the internet for recipes is wonderful.

Riverford does all the testing for you and delivers the perfect recipe ready to cook and enjoy. And even better I am giving one lucky reader the chance to try our a Riverford Box for 2. Please check  to ensure you live in a delivery area to be able to claim you prize if you are a lucky winner. And good luck.

  1. I would share it with my family. We are all so busy during the week that we rarely get to sit down together to enjoy a meal. The boxes are such a good idea and look delicious – we would love to cook up a feast with one!

  3. I would share with my husband and get him to cook with me, it’s been 15 years since he last cooked for me and he keeps promising one day he will so this would be perfect for him!
