Can you love crockery? I do and always have.
It’s been one of those things I have never compromised on in my life. In fact’s always been a bit of an obsession, I suppose because we are always entertaining. In 23 years of marriage this is only our 3rd dinner set. Can you believe that? But that is because we invested in dinner sets that would last, that were classic.
We have had our most recent Jet Denby Dinner set for 11 years and it still looks amazing, apart from a few bowls that the boys have chipped, that I desperately need to replace. It still looks modern and clearly the quality is great as it is still going strong. And trust me, that set has been roughly stacked into the dishwasher at goodness know what hour. After many a dinner party with great friends and copious amounts of wine, more times than I care to remember.
But the time has come for a change, for no other reason than the fact that this gorgeous Denby Always Entertaining Deli set turned my eye. It is oh so pretty. In delicate pastel shades that remind me of eggshells, I am in love with it. And it is the perfect match for our new rustic dining table.
We are one of those families who love entertaining, having friends and laughter in our home. And as soon as my shiny new dinner set arrived I was itching to have a dinner party and put it to use. So I invited some of our favourite people for an Italian style dinner and of course cocktails.
I love the versatility of the Always Entertaining set, it is perfect for us with additional coordinating serving bowls and platters it looks fab.
Have you ever designed and arranged a meal around your plates? Because that is exactly what I did, and with a little help from our local farm shop and a fantastic bread and camembert recipe from another of my favourite people and fellow Denby lover, the gorgeous Donna from LoveLikeDo, I created a mini continental style feast.
We had a wonderful night, laughing, eating and drinking wine. Sharing the odd toast to friendship, because lets face it? Great friends are a huge part of life, something to celebrate. I have a handful of very close friends who I adore. Friends we have spent many an evening laughing eating and drinking the odd glass of wine with.
Just recently, I would say since January a few events have occurred that have shaken up our happy little bubbles. Made me so grateful these wonderful people are in my life. I always have been, don’t get me wrong. But great friendship runs deep. Feels like family. And when your friends suffer, you feel it. Thankfully there are lots of lights at the end of the tunnel and we all have many, many wonderful adventures and evening like this ahead of us.
But you know what its like, or it is just me? I took all my photos of our lovely meal, an evening for one reason and another we will always remember. But I forgot to take dessert. So there was nothing else for it. Today the boys and I had to create some dessert style pictures.
We decided as it was a cold dull not very summery day we needed cheering up, and opted for a pancake and waffle comfort feast.
Because what dinner pictures are complete without dessert? And the boys were more than willing to assist me on this one.
As I busied myself preparing our little feast they hovered round waiting for the go ahead to dig in. Whilst I took photos they huffed and puffed impatiently, feeling somewhat tortured watching said feast in front of them, but being unable to touch it. It was only a minute or two but clearly it felt and eternity to them!
And as predicted as soon as they were able to dig in, silence. Well, apart from the sound of squirty cream hissing from the can, and the odd appreciative nod. I am already planning a few extra pieces to finish off my set, but it is perfect for family pancake gorging, entertaining and all round good times with our favourite people.
