I wrote last week about styling my work area, and how I love my little space. I want to share the final piece of the jigsaw, my gorgeous chair. I had been searching for just the right chair for a while. I had a lot of boxes to tick, oh boy am I fussy. It had to match my sofa; I wanted studs and buttons, and a similar shade of grey to our walls and sofa. Oh and it had to be supportive and comfy to sit on.
I mean this chair was the place my hopes and dreams will stem from, somewhere I would sit and while away the hours tapping on my keyboard, or happily crafting. This is an area I need to feel comfortable, I mean you just can’t pour your heart out with a back ache can you? Well, I cant anyway.
I was using a dining room chair from my kitchen, which is perfectly lovely, or was 5 years ago. In fact after using the dining room chair for my work area for a couple of months, the set of chairs have found their way on to my home hit list, they have got to go, I have fallen out of love with them.
No word of exaggeration every day I was working with a backache, so to help I was warming up and using my lavender heat bag. Now I don’t know if you have ever used one of these, but excessive use causes them to smell. I was warming said bag up every hour, so not only did I have backache, my house stank of an over used slightly burnt lavender bag. Of course I compensated this with candles, but that’s just not the point, it was all getting a bit of a vicious circle.
I was determined not to retreat to the sofa, for me this would have been a downward spiral, in no time at all I would have been sat in my pjs with a huge box of chocolates and a latte watching Love Actually. Sofas are for chilling and that is all I can do on them
So you see this gorgeous chair is not just a chair, it has saved me, saved me from backache, my house smelling of overdone lavender bags, and me putting on a stone though eating copious amounts of chocolate on the sofa.
I chose it wisely; yes I couldn’t physically sit on it to test it. But I looked at the shape, it matched aesthetically it is absolutely beautiful. I wanted something to hug my back, unlike my very uncomfortable dining chairs. The AlpenHome Blakiston Solid Wood Parsons Chair from Wayfair is just perfect, it is stylish, comfortable and even arrived smelling of fresh lavender. I have never had furniture that smells of fresh lavender before. It is not overpowering, just very subtle and fresh smelling, which has certainly erased the memory of burnt lavender from my mind.
The problem I have now is that my space is so comfy, I just want to sit there all the time, some days I find myself just daydreaming staring out of the window at the view, or like this week online shopping, and buying beautiful planners to organise myself, or planning exciting family holidays. And whilst I am planning and plotting our life, I have the most gorgeous and comfortable place to do it.
